Long time no see!

It’s been a hectic few weeks since I returned from vacation, and I was definitely struggling with finding inspiration for blogging, but I managed to pull myself out of my funk and have put together something I quite like.

The skogsrå is a Scandinavian myth, a creepy forest spirit that takes the shape of a beautiful woman to lure men into the woods. They look normal from the front, but their backs are open and have dead trees growing out of them. It’s a pretty cool story, and as I’m currently crushing hard on a Swedish guy, it seemed appropriate.

Genre’s new round is Medieval!

Fun round with some very cool items from the designers, but I picked my favorite to showcase here. :> I love this new skin from Lumae; I believe this is her first of her new face line, and the ad is very reminiscent of Elizabeth I. I thought originally of doing an Elizabeth-style picture, but I found this awesome cemetary at Order of Avalon and basically ended up doing something completely different.

I’m also wearing a few pieces from Vae’s new jewelry set, the Victorienne, over at The Secret Affair. As usual it’s beautifully detailed and comes in seven different metal types, with a HUD to change the opal/pearl-like gemstones featured on each piece.

omg HUGE NEWS FOR ME: I got accepted as an official blogger for Plastik!

I am a huge geek for Plastik and have been ever since I started out in SL. Vae does wonderful textures and models, gorgeous makeup, awesome skins, etc. There’s always been something fae about her store, and when I picked up some of her new releases I immediately knew what I wanted to do with them.

I’m a big fan of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files, and Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness and monarch of the Unseelie–Winter–Court of the Fae is a fairly important character in the books. I recently finished re-reading the newest entry in the series, Skin Game, and Mab once again features in it. So this interpretation of Mab is influenced by Jim Butcher, and uses pieces from Vae’s beautiful Petrichor Druid gacha set at Whimsical. I’ve also picked up the new Lo hair from Little Bones at Uber and the Kat applier from Glam Affair at We ♥ RP to round it out.

You may also notice I’ve been working on my editing techniques! I really wanted to do something special for my first blog post for Plastik, so I decided to challenge myself and see if I couldn’t do something really lovely, and I’m pleased with how it turned out. Thanks to Daeberethwen Arbenlow for all her advice on Plurk ♥

HI EVERYBODY!

Hi Dr. Ni–wait. Okay, anyway. Hey guys, I just got back from vacation a few days ago and knew I wanted to get started with some of my blog backlog. A bunch of stuff happened while I was out, namely a ton of events, the end of Hair Fair ’15, and I was accepted to blog for Genre! The new round will be “Age of Dragons” and I’ll be putting something together soon for that.

However, yesterday marked the opening of an event I hate to love: Fantasy Gacha Carnival.

I love it because the stuff people make for it–including this incredible set from Aisling, the Arius Queen–is just drop-dead gorgeous. So many creators really pull out all the stops and put out things you absolutely must have, with wonderful attention to craftsmanship and detail.

I hate it because gachas are literally Satan. I always tell myself I won’t play anymore, but I do, because I’m WEAK. asdjfeerfkdjdjlgk

But this time it was so, so worth it. The Arius Queen set is stunning. Aisling’s work is always some of the best on the grid, with an attention to detail that I personally treasure. I can’t get over how much I enjoy the small parts of this, like the fold and buttons on the skirt, and the beautiful chains draped all over the chest and headdress. Another feather in Aisling’s cap, once all is said and done.

So! If you’re interested in picking it up for yourself, I’ve provided a taxi to the FGC in the credits, and remember to check out the work of the designers who’ve put up machines, because this round has proven to be one of my favorites.
